Hello and welcome to LOLIPOP Learning. Thank you for checking out my website and joining me on a lifelong journey of learning. I invite you to learn alongside me and discover what makes you and each of your children uniquely special, so that you can experience your most meaningful life.
I have always loved to learn. I was fortunate to have parents, teachers, mentors, and friends who encouraged my curiosity and challenged me at pivotal times throughout my life. At 10-years-old I set up a classroom in my house and taught the neighborhood kids to read. I loved puzzles and math, reading, learning new skills like farming and cooking, dance, and gymnastics. My interests have led me in so many directions, and I am always happiest when I am learning.
You can start your learning journey at any time in your life. If you experienced negative learning environments or lacked encouraging teachers along the way, you can still embark on a life of learning and enjoy a meaningful and joyful life.
Join me as I share my years of parenting, homeschooling, and teaching in public, private, and charter schools, and all I learned from doing it right and doing it wrong.
My proudest accomplishment is not any of my degrees, certifications, or official credentials, but raising and homeschooling my own three children. Each presented a unique challenge to my abilities as a parent and teacher. Each is now entering adulthood, and I smile when I witness their ability to think critically, see and show compassion for different points of view, live and experience successes and learn from mistakes. In addition to my own children, I have organized, lead, and taught in homeschool co-ops, learning centers, mainstream schools, and charter schools. I have had the privilege of learning from thousands of students and fellow educators. I learned that each student came with his/her own genius and a yearning to explore individual purpose and meaning to life. It has been such a joy for me to watch my own children and so many of my students go onto college, career, and families of their own.
I am an advocate for individualized education and choices in education. One of my goals here is to present you with different options so that you can choose the ones that work best for yourself, your family, and each of your children. The principles I explore on this website and in my books can be applied at home, in a classroom, and throughout life,.
Welcome to the Journey!
